So its big news today that Apple are again suing someone, this time its Samsung . Apple claim that Samsung’s Galaxy range of mobile phones and tablet “slavishly” copy the iPhone and iPad, which is mentioned in the court papers.
Apple is one of many participants caught in a web of litigation among phone makers and software firms over who owns the patents used in smartphones. Nokia sued Apple, which in turn sued handset maker HTC Corp. Apple is bringing 16 claims against Samsung, including unjust enrichment, trademark infringement and 10 patent claims. Apple have previously claimed HTC over patent infringement of the iPhone and Motorola using Apple’s intellectual property.
A friend kindly sent me a video of a drop test between the iPhone 4S and Samsung S II. The video test the screen and structural damage at varying heights, which produces some intriguing results. In the video you will notice that the iPhone 4S suffers serious screen damage compared to the Samsung Galaxy S II, which had relatively no damage.
Why I feel this is relevant is that Apple are suing Samsung over Design features, so clearly from this video that claim will not hold up due to the damage inflicting varies drastically between the two smartphones.
Oh Apple, will you ever learn that your not the only guy in the market who is allowed to create smartphone’s.
